The good news:  The Suns were able to scrape by the Clippers on Sunday afternoon to tally their 21st win of the season.  The bad news:  The Suns had to scrape by the lowly Clippers to get the win.

Los Angeles had lost their previous 10 games and have not yet beat a team in their division.  Yet Phoenix declined to let their fans have a lazy Sunday afternoon watching a blowout.  Instead, they acquired several double-digit leads only to give those same leads up every time.

Suns Win Against Dallas With Flair

(Barry Gossage/NBAE/Getty Images)

Now THAT was impressive!

“THAT” being the best 12 minutes of the Terry Porter Era – a 41-19 third period blast that blew the Mavericks away and started the Suns on the way to 128-100 romp.

And the best part was they did it with the kind of flair and panache that brought back fond memories of the way they used to put teams away in the days of yore (yore being an ancient word meaning last year) when they were known as the NBA’s most entertaining team. [Read more...]

Last-Second Shot Destroys Suns Comeback Attempt

(Barry Gossage/NBAE/Getty Images)

(Barry Gossage/NBAE/Getty Images)

The Suns found themselves in the embarrassing position Wednesday night of trying to steal a home game against a 12-22 team, and almost pulled the heist off. The operative word there, of course, being “almost.”

With the Suns trailing most of the night, more often than not by double digits, Leandro Barbosa led a late charge that he climaxed with a three-pointer that pushed Phoenix into their first lead of the game with 45 seconds to go. And they were positioned to escape into overtime when the Pacers inbounded the ball with only nine tenths of a second left and the score tied. [Read more...]

STAT Making Push For All-Star Starting Position

Having played in three NBA All-Star Games, it’s hard to believe Suns forward Amar’e Stoudemire has yet to start in the league’s midseason classic. The former Rookie of the Year is doing everything in his power to change that in 2009, being that the game right here in his own backyard of Phoenix, Arizona. [Read more...]

Richardson Blog: January 5, 2009

Good morning, Good afternoon, Good evening!! Welcome to the world of back to back basketball, against the Thunder I felt good. Then we flew to Memphis and soon as the whistle blew I couldn’t get a golf ball to go into the hoop. I was deeply disappointed in my play but in this business bad games happen. Once I got back home my day consisted of returning gifts that my kids made defective. Their just like me and my brothers, cause my mother would be returning gifts by the 27th because we would want them to do more than what was on the commercial. I really appreciate all the love that I am getting on the site, and I can’t wait to see who wins the Golden ball game. The guy on the song is my little cousin and that song is hot he has some more joints coming soon so look out!! Someone asked do I have a record label? No I don’t, but I love music! I’m more of an Old School fan as well as a fan of the Lil Wayne’s, Maroon 5, Beyonce, Nerd, the Bay and other underground artist.

These games were a learning experience because it taught us how to play without Steve and Stat. We had to lean on our bench Jared played big on both ends, Barbosa was on fire and Matt was being his energetic self bringing instant points. Give us a little more time to gel and great things will come. Just in case you missed it M.S.U. 77 Northwestern 66 Go Green Go White!! See you next Monday and stay tune to the Suns Show!

Suns Win in Expected Fashion

(Barry Gossage/NBAE/Getty Images)

(Barry Gossage/NBAE/Getty Images)

This was one of those designated Ws, of which there are so many in today’s split-level NBA, where the gap between the haves and have-nots has seldom been wider. And the Suns did what the haves are supposed to do — jump all over their have-not guests early, take a couple of catnaps along the way, stifle a few yawns, and collect the scheduled victory.
