Steve Nash made his first-ever NBA Finals appearance Tuesday, albeit as a special reporter for the “Late Show With David Letterman.”

Flown down to Orlando for Game 3 of the Finals between the Magic and Lakers, the two-time NBA MVP armed himself with a microphone and a camera crew to film segments for air on Wednesday’s episode of the late-night talk show.

After being oh-so-gently reminded by Dave he has yet to actually play in the Finals during his in-studio appearance, Steve got the chance to show off his special-correspondent skills with footage that included:

Phoenix Suns all-star point guard Steve Nash will continue his in-depth analysis of the NBA postseason by becoming a correspondent for the “Late Show with David Letterman”.

So far, Steve is 0 for 1 on his predictions this postseason. When asked who will win the championship in a yahoo.com sports blog back on May 22nd, Nash responded, “I feel like it’s Cleveland’s year because their chemistry is so good.”

Nash will get a chance at redemption when he flies to Orlando to cover Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday June 9th.

After the game, Steve will fly back to New York to report to the “Late Show”. The Nash visit will air on CBS at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 10th.

The Reebok camp in Treviso is a great way to see the top European talent in an intimate setting over a 3 day period.  There are several non Euro players here as well – Patty Mills from St. Mary’s being the most renowned – so the camp does seem to broadening in a global sense.  Patrick Beverly and Terence Oglesby are both here – Beverly played at Arkansas and Oglesby at Clemson – so we’re even seeing American college players use the camp as an opportunity to be seen.

The camp also features outstanding coaching, with both American and European coaches running clinics and drills.  Some of the names you’d recognize are Bob Hurley, Fran Fraschilla, and Jack Sikma.

There are drills in the morning and 5 on 5 games in the late afternoons and evenings.  It’s great to see players play 3 or 4 games in just a few days.  You get an all encompassing view of a player’s game and personality that would normally take months of scouting to compile.

We need to make the NBA Combine more like the Reebok camp – 5 on 5 games, real basketball games, real officiating.  It’s much better than the 3 on 3 team workouts we’re conducting right now to prepare for the draft.  We could learn a thing or two from these guys over here!

Always managing to keep himself busy over the summer with either his love for soccer or love for filmmaking, Suns guard Steve Nash has found a way to combine the two passions in his latest video promoting the game.

There is also a good cause behind the videos other than raising awareness for the sport itself. The video raises awareness for the “Football-For-Good” program which Nash says he hopes can, “help bring community centered academy football to children in war effected regions.”

“I’ve made a viral video to drive people to our community center and soccer academy project in Uganda’s website,” Nash said in a statement to the Suns. “There’s also a contest attached to win a trip to the ‘Showdown in Chinatown’ – my charity soccer match.”

With a donation of just $5, fans will be entered to join Nash at this year’s “Showdown in Chinatown” – an event that pits some of the world’s top soccer and basketball stars in New York City. Last year at the event, Nash was joined by fellow NBA stars Leandro Barbosa, Baron Davis and Jason Kidd.

With the Lakers and Magic set to tip-off the NBA Finals tonight, it’s fitting that on day four we would look back at some of the best championship rounds in recent memory. Unfortunately the championship round has been overshadowed as of late by many of these other series I’ve touched on. Following a seven-game series between the Rockets and Knicks in 1994, the NBA Finals have been a combination of four-game sweeps and complete domination at the hands of either the Chicago Bulls or Los Angeles Lakers.
