Although Suns point guard Kendall Marshall’s career with the Suns may have started slowly, his debut with the Bakersfield Jam began with a bang.
The Suns rookie poured in 21 points and dished out eight assists as the Jam dealt the visiting Santa Cruz Warriors a 102-95 defeat Monday. The 6-4 playmaker was awarded the start and did his damage in 31 minutes.
Marshall, who was named “Player of the Game,” shot 1-of-3 from downtown and 6-of-8 from the line. He finished just behind Atlanta Hawks shooting guard and fellow recent assignee John Jenkins, who scored 22, for team-high honors.
The win moved the Jam to 3-1, which firmly places them on top of the D-League’s West Division. Bakersfield hosts the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Tuesday.
