They’re good enough, they’re smart enough and doggone it, people like them. That’s the way the Phoenix Suns, Steve Nash and Shaquille O’Neal must feel upon learning where they rank in jersey sales.

The Suns finished seventh amongst NBA teams in jersey sales, trailing only the Lakers, Celtics, Knicks, Cavs, Bulls and Hornets. Lakers merchandise became the league’s most popular team once again after losing that honor to the Celtics last season. The Celtics dropped to No. 2 and the Lakers moved back into the top spot for the sixth time in the last seasons.

Steve Nash’s and Shaquille O’Neal’s jerseys remain in the top 15 for the most sold. Nash’s jersey comes in at No. 13 while Shaq’s sits right behind him at No. 14. Kobe Bryant’s jersey becomes the No. 1 seller, removing Kevin Garnett’s jersey from that position.

The list is based on sales at the NBA Store in New York City and NBAStore.com since the start of the 2008-09 NBA season through April 2009. Despite all the talk of economic woes, sales of NBA jerseys increased seven percent over last year at the NBA Store and NBAStore.com combined.
