Mary: I’d say more like one out of a million.
Lloyd: So you’re telling me there’s a chance… *YEAH!*
Sure, the Suns chances aren’t one in a million of landing a top three overall pick. As a matter of fact, they are significantly better than that at six out of a thousand (or six out of 1,000). But what exactly does that mean?
It means the team has a better chance of landing in the Top 3 of the draft than you do of cutting yourself shaving tomorrow (1 in 6,585). I assume that includes you ladies, (comma) too. Chances of slipping in the bathtub or shower? Yeah, moving up in the draft is more likely than those odds (1 out of 2,323). Chances of moving up from the No. 13 pick are more likely than the odds players face in actually becoming a professional (1 in 24,550). It’s also more likely that the ping pong balls fall the Suns way than a hole in one falling for you on the golf course (1 in 5,000). It’s even better than chances of hearing a Justin Bieber song in the next 20 minutes (Alright, I made that one up. Those odds are 1 in 2. OK, that’s made up too.)
So what am I saying? I’m telling you that when Adam Silver and the NBA delegates gather in Times Square Wednesday there’s a chance for your Suns – a better one than many things that could happen in your life.
